Free lance cartoonist; enlisted Army Air Corps played hockey with Boston Olympics waiting service call and training.

After shortest training ever, 9 months, was commissioned as an officer and sent to test pilot school.

1944-45

Further training in various aircraft.

March 1945

Troop ship to Guam, tested planes, made cargo flights, chief est pilot, qualified to fly 32 different planes, 18 months in Guam
